Austrian news agency APA complained that festival staff have failed to improve their English, which was the source of much criticism last year. Many foreign visitors, including performers, had to resort to body language to be understood, APA said.

French news agency AFP praised the smooth co-operation between Hungarian police and their foreign counterparts - there were two French, four British and one Dutch police officer at the venue - but the officers had a different view. One of the French officers noted that as many thefts were reported in the first three days of this year's festival as were reported during the entire week last year.
The British officers were more complacent. One from the force in Bristol, which does duty at the Glastonbury Festival, said there was far more opportunity to sit back on the island than in Glastonbury.
