English

For some 35 years, starting in 1969, Planyavsky was the organist for St Stephen?s Cathedral in Vienna. During this period he also served as the church?s musical director, leading the choir. He supervised the restoration of the church?s famous Rieger organ, which was completed in 1991, and gave as many as 45 concerts a year on the instrument afterward. Planyavsky has played concerts to great acclaim in the U.S., Japan, Australia and South Africa. He is a regular member of juries at organ competitions, and his master classes are considered an honour to attend by the best young organists.

Planyavsky?s concert on June 25 will include works by Bach, Gardiner, Fuchs and Kodály, as well as his own compositions and improvisations.
