Frankenstein Plan Takes Top Prize in Pécs

English

Just one other play has won both the jury and audience prize in the festival's history: the Krétakör's performance of The Seagull in 2004.

Sándor Zsótér was named the best director at this year's POSZT. Prizes went to the actors Lili Monori, Béla Pintér, Emese Vasvári and Tibor Pálffy.

This year's POSZT concluded with a professional forum at which the convention organisers said they do not wish for POSZT to become an international event when Pécs takes the European Capital of Culture title in 2010. Though the organisers welcomed foreign productions to the convention's OFF programme, they argued that the city has just one theatre which can show productions with high technical demands. The organisers also decided to require that performances in competition allow for an audience of at least a hundred people.

This year's winner, The Frankenstein Plan, was shown to an audience of less than 20 members of the public at its two performances on the convention programme.
