 The French Institute

The institute will host twelve concerts by the end of the season and another twelve starting in the autumn.

French Institute deputy director Jérome Bloch said music already accounts for about one-third of the institute's programme, but the ratio would now grow further.

Gergely Fazekas, who coordinates the Alma Mater concert series, said the pieces on the programme would include baroque, classical, romantic and contemporary works. French and Hungarian pieces will also be performed, he added.

The cooperation between the LFZE and the French Institute is not new. In 2008, the institute supported a performance of Olivier Messiaen's monumental Turangalila symphony on the hundredth anniversary of the composer's birth.

The Alma Mater concert series started on February 5.
