The award seeks to support artists who represent new cultural values on both sides of the border, Debrecen Deputy Mayor Béla Somogyi said at the exhibition opening. Since winning the prize, Tolvaj has had solo exhibitions in Rome and London, he added.

Iosif?s wooden sculptures combine his own style with traditional Romanian design, said Ábel Kónya, a member of the prize jury and himself a former FreshART winner. Tolvaj?s pieces in the show offer an overview of her work over the past two years, he added.

The exhibition runs until September 30.
