Gahse, who was born in Hungary in 1946 but left the country in 1956, lives in Switerland. She has translated works by Péter Esterházy, Péter Nádas, Miklós Mészöly, László Garaczi, Zsuzsa Rakovszky, István Vörös and Ottó Tolnai into German.
Gahse will be presented the prize in Istanbul, at the German Language and Poetry Academy spring congress, on May 15.
The prize comes with a EUR 15,000 purse.
