?Openness is my motto,? said Andreas Homoki, who was formerly musical director of Berlin?s Comic Opera and replaces Alexander Pereira, who filled the post for 21 years.
Homoki plans premieres of 13 operas and three ballets this season. He aims to raise the profile of 20th century repertoire too, including Janácek?s Jenúfa, Shostakovich?s Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District and Péter Eötvös?s Three Sisters on the programme.
Homoki addressed a meeting of Opera Europe in Budapest in 2007.
