Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten

The band is headed by Stanley Clarke, who chose the double bass in music school because he was among the last students to join and had no other choice. A few years later, he graduated from the music academy in Philadelphia and started playing with some of jazz's greatest talents, including Horace Silver, Art Blakey, Dexter Gordon, Gato Barbieri, Joe Henderson, Chick Corea, Pharoah Sanders, Gil Evans and Stan Getz. Since he played with Corea in the band Return to Forever Clarke has been regarded - along with Jaco Pastorius - as one of the best bass guitarists in the world.

Marcus Miller, who is a few years younger than Clarke, is a composer and producer, as well as a performer. His primary instrument in the bass guitar, but he also plays the clarinet, bass clarinet, piano and saxophone. Miller gained fame playing with David Sanborn and Miles Davis.

The youngest of the three is Victor Lemonte Wooten, but his career already spans two decades, starting with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. In addition to playing with Clarke and Miller, Wooten also regularly peforms with the Chick Corea Elektric Band, and he has his own self-named band too.
