"This is not about walls and concrete, but about an attraction," says the palace's managing director Mihály T. Révész.
The project involves the reconstruction of the palace's English garden as well as an expansion of its museum area to accommodate both the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions.
When the expansion of the museum area is completed the palace will host a series of exhibitions entitled Knights of Titania about the men who were important in Sissi's life. The first subject of the series will be Count Gyula Andrássy, Hungary's firs prime minister.
In addition to exhibitions, the palace is placing emphasis on musical programmes. This year, opera performances will take place, as well as performances by the pianist Alex Szilasi and the cellist István Várdai.
