Gödöllő Celebrates City's Famous Women

The Famous Women of Gödöllő programme pays homage to figures such as Elizabeth Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary, Lujza Blaha, Laura Kriesch and Adél Brüll, said Csaba Péterfi, communications director for the office of the mayor.
 
The Gödöllő Royal Palace will open a temporary exhibition in the summer that focuses on Empress Elisabeth, affectionately known as Sissi, and the women of her court, such as Ida Ferenczy and Irma Sztáray.
 
An exhibition focusing on the actress and opera diva Lujza Blaha, who summered at a home in Gödöllő for more than a decade, will open in the spring.
 
An open-air concert will pay tribute to Adél Brüll, the muse of the great Hungarian poet Endre Ady.
 
The work of some of the women of the Artist Colony of Gödöllő, an important representative of Hungarian art in the Art Nouveau period, will open in the city?s Arts Centre.
 
A concert in the Royal Palace of Gödöllő on November 20, the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Otto Habsburg, will be held in honour of the son of the last King of Hungary and his wife Zita.
