The city centre will be made into a pedestrian zone and the surrounding buildings given facelifts, said mayor György Gémesi. The local art centre will be get a new look and a number of energy-saving improvements, he added.
When completed, the city centre will be suitable for hosting open-air cultural events, concerts and exhibitions. It will be surrounded by restaurants and other places to socialize.
