The world-renowned klezmer band started its career in New York's East Village 22 years ago. They combine Jewish spiritualism and Eastern European tradition while incorporating more provocative themes such as social rights and anti-fundamentalism with eclectic musical influences such as gospel, punk and Arab, African and Balkan rhythms.
Klezmatics has collaborated with a number of world-renowned artists, including Israeli-American violinist legend Itzhak Perlman and American poet-essayist Allen Ginsberg.
They have released six albums over the past twenty years. Their most recent one, "Wonder Wheel", won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album in 2006.
