The exhibition will show 160 of Moreau's works featuring his main theme of biblical and mythological figures, such as Hercules, Leda, Jupiter, Orpheus, Salome and the Unicorn, said Marie-Cecile Forest, director of the Paris-based Gustave Moreau, which has loaned the works.

Ferenc Toth, the curator of the Budapest exhibition said some of Moreau's famous paintings, such as the Oedipus and the Sphinx, the Prometheus or the Orpheus, will also be shown, along with some other works that will be on show for the last time because of their condition.

The exhibition will run until May 3.
