Gyuri Hollósy Works Show in US

English

Hollósy is known for his dramatic representation of Hungarian themes such as the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, as well as his unique treatment of the human figure, specifically the female form.

Inspired by a fascination with Medieval armour, Hollósy has developed "a new sculptural approach resulting in an elegantly abstracted yet recognizable figure composed of thin, overlapping pieces of cast metal," the Hungarian Heritage Centre says on its website.

Hollósy's sculptures are in public places in several American cities. Perhaps his best known work is a nearly six-metre high monument to the victims of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution in Boston's Liberty Square Park.

The exhibition of Hollósy's work at the Hungarian Heritage Center runs from October 5, 2008 until March 22, 2009.
