The ministry said the award recognised the green approach of the festival, which was held this year for the tenth time.
The city of Tokaj has proposed to the minister that it compete for the International Green Festival title.
This year's Hegyalja Festival, held between July 15 and 19, drew a record 71,000 visitors.
