The festival will kick off with a special performance by the Hungarian husband-wife pianist duo Dezső Ránki and Edit Klukon - joined this time by their son Fülöp Ránki - of Mozart's concerto for three pianos. The National Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Zoltán Kocsis, will play Beethoven's 8th Symphony.

On July 24, the jazz pianist Herbie Hancock will perform material from his latest album, which won the 2008 Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

On July 25, an opera gala will feature special guest Ramón Vargas, from Mexico, who will sing Verdi and Donizetti duets with the Hungarian Erika Miklósa. Vargas is no stranger to Hungary, having performed already at the Bartók+... International Opera Festival in Miskolc.

The multiple Grammy-winning American a cappella group Take 6 will be on stage on Saturday, July 26. The sextet will perform gospel, jazz, pop songs and rhythm and blues. They will be followed by Richard Bona and his band.

Veszprém will open a new 5,000-capacity arena a week before the festival, offering an alternative venue for performances in case of rain.
