(MTI) - The Hungarian consulate general in Los Angeles said in a statement that Tarantino was granted the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic's Commander's Cross and Liu was granted the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic's Knight Cross. They were awarded in recognition of their involvement as producers in the documentary Freedom's Fury on the 1956 anti-Soviet revolution in Hungary and the 1956 Olympic semifinal water polo match between Hungary and Russia.
Vajna received a lifetime achievement award from Consul General Balazs Bokor.
Festival director Bela Bunyik and his wife were recognised for their efforts to organise the Hungarian film festival in Los Angeles for many years.
The 10th Hungarian Film Festival of Los Angeles will take place between 18 and 21 November. The festival will start on Thursday evening with a screening of Szabolcs Hajdu's Bibliotheque Pascal, Hungary's entry to the Academy Awards.
