The children were presented with shoeboxes packed with more than 18,000 donated toys as part of a tradition started in 2004. The number of shoeboxes rose from about 6,000 to 18,204 in the last days before the event as schools and institutions that had organised drives for the programme delivered what they had collected.
Entertainment at the event was provided by the actor and director Péter Levente and the magician János Habók.
