The first MUSMA workshop ? established last year with the participation of ten countries to help young European composers and performers launch their careers ? was held on June 27-30. Young composers and musicians from Poland, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Belgium and Turkey, in addition to Hungary, participated at the workshop.
?On the occasion of the Liszt anniversary, the Spanish hosts proposed that the young composers be asked to prepare 5-minute solo piano pieces on the theme of Liszt and nature,? Erdődy said. ?Radio stations have also participated in the project and the workshop was not only supported but also attended by a representative of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The union will recommend the works composed during the workshop for broadcast by various radio stations,? Erdődy said.
?The Hungarofest Klassz Music Office has been actively involved in the establishment of MUSMA from the start,? said Erdődy. ?The project very much matches our profile, considering that its aim is to present young composers and musicians throughout Europe. It is expected to give them impetus to start a career and help them learn about each other and each other?s work.?
The piece by Dargay will be performed by Palojtay in Hungary on the first day of the ?Liszt and Europe? chamber music festival on September 29.
The festival is organised by the Hungarofest Klassz Music Office
