Gergye's performance combined the motifs of the Expressionist painter Egon Schiele with elements of dance from Java.

The performance was liked by critics as well as audiences, as became clear at a roundtable talk on contemporary European dance held on Sunday, the Hungarian Cultural Centre London said.

Centre director Katalin Ildikó Takács said that initiatives such as the DancEUnion - European Contemporary Dance Festival in London offer great opportunities for Hungarian performers.

DancEUnion, which involved artists from 23 countries, was organised by the European Commission's British representative and Southbank Centre.
