Hungarian Design Shows on Streets of New York

The models wore clothing by Hungary's Je Suis Belle and Use Unused design groups as well as by the designer Anh Tuan at grace Plaza. The Use Unused group has been present in the US for several years but the Je Suis Belle group and Anh Tuan made their debuts at the events

The event was documented by the Hungarian photographers Péter Hapák and Gábor Máté. Máté used a vintage 8X10 Polaroid, favoured by photographers such as Richard Avedon.

The fashion shows took place over lunchtime each day from Saturday until Tuesday. The images of the event were shown in the glass cubicle in front of the International Center of Photography.

The objective is to go beyond making sterile fashion photographs and instead initiate a dialogue between the fashion world and New York residents, said the show's organiser Mária Rita Hadas. The designs shown were especially made for the event, she added.

Hungarian designers will show streetwear collections at New York exhibition spaces in the coming week.
