Hungarian Director Recognised at US Film Festival

Péter Forgács

Forgács is an independent filmmaker who is best known for his works that contain found film footage - mostly amateur 8mm stock.  Forgács was described in the festival programme as an "archivist of memory".

 
Past recipients of the award, established in 2005, include the filmmakers Amos Gitai and Dani Levy.
 
The San Francisco Jewish Film Festival included three films by Forgács on its programme this year: Miss Universe 1929, The Maelstrom and Danube Exodus.
