Berlinskaya Fugue
is competing against 23 films in the festival's regional documentaries section which includes films from Slovenia, Austria, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Bulgaria and Macedonia.
"Shocking picture from the heart of Eastern Ukraine. Remains of European culture in the dark industrial metropolis of Donetsk. Smoke, pollution, stray dogs, endless lines of broken down block of flats. Alesia, a five year old girl growing up in love and hope in the warm family nest. Suddenly, arrives the day when she has to face reality," is how the festival organisers describe the film.
Nagy, born in 1980, studied under János Szász at the Academy of Theatre and Film in Budapest. His short Éva Kovács showed at the Tampere Film Festival in 2003, and November was on the programme in Karlovy Vary in 2005. His short Together was selected for Premiers Plans film Festival in 2007.
