Its former presidents included Peter Fleischmann, Ettore Scola, Krzysztof Zanussi, Juan Antonio Bardem, Robert Enrico, John Boorman, Francesco Maselli and Manuel Gutierrez Aragon.
Szabo won Hungary's sole Academy Award in the feature film category with his "Mephisto" back in 1982.
