Lívia Rév

The Légion d'honneur awards were announced on July 14, the French national holiday, but Rév will be presented with hers by French President Nicolas Sarkozy at a special ceremony later.

In spite of her age, Rév still plays concerts. She was a guest teacher at a master class in Hungary earlier this summer, and she will hold another course for gifted young pianists in Paris on September 8-15. The opening event for the latter seminar will be a concert of Hungarian music at the Hungarian Institute.

Rév, who studied with the Hungarian composer Leó Weiner, also considers it important to raise the profile of French music abroad. She played a memorable concert of new interpretations of Debussy's works at the Palace of Arts in 2005.
