The producer Viktória Petrányi accepted the festival's top prize on behalf of director Kornél Mundruczó for his film Delta. Mundruczó was unable to attend because of a casting.

The director József Sipos accepted the audience award for his film Eszter's Inheritance, based on a novel by Sándor Márai.

The awards were presented by festival founder and organiser Béla Bunyik and state secretary in charge of international affairs at the Ministry of Education and Culture Katalin Bogyay.

This year's festival featured a retrospective of films by the director Miklós Jancsó, as well as Hollywood classics that involved Hungarian professionals, such as Casablanca, directed by Mihály Kertész, Easy Riders, which was shot by cinematographer László Kovács, and Spellbound, with a score by Miklós Rózsa.
Bogyay praised Bunyik's efforts as a cultural diplomat and noted that the ministry had contributed HUF 5 million to support the festival.

The awards ceremony was also attended by the directors Csaba Bollók and János Szász.
