Fliegauf, who attended the screening of the film, said he was pleased with the award and hoped it would boost audience interest.
The film, which took the Silver Bear at this year?s Berlinale, will go into general release in France next year.
?French audiences are very sensitive about social issues,? Fliegauf said.
Paris Cinema Festival organisers called the film, which shows a Roma family under threat by racists, ?a political statement? that approached the issue with ?great sobriety? but at the same time ?with touches of [a] horror film?.
The organisers called the score for the film, which was composed by the director, ?exceptionally intense?.
The festival jury was chaired by the actress Charlotte Rampling. Its members included the film director Laetitia Masson, the actor and director Louis-Do de Lencquesaing, the actress Alice Belaidi, the journalist Julien Dokhan, the writer and composer Yves Simon, and the singer-songwriter Emilie Simon.
Fliegauf will attend screenings of Just the Wind at festivals in Poland, Australia, Finland and Croatia this summer.
