(MTI) - Variety reported on Thursday that the event had been cancelled for 2011 because of a lack of funding, citing an e-mail from Eva Vezer.
Vezer told MTI on Friday that Hungarian Film Week would not take place in February, when it usually does, but was scheduled for late April. Foreign guests will not be invited because they will be busy preparing for Cannes, she added.
Magyar Filmunio tried to organise a smaller festival exclusively for foreign guests including journalists and festival organisers during the usual time in February, but funding fell short, she said. It will be "very difficult to rebuild what has worked well until now," she added.
