Hungarian Films Win Awards at Slovakian Festival

Szabolcs Hajdus won the award for best screenplay for the film ?White Palms?, which he also directed, and Bálint Kenyeres was presented the prize for best short film for ?Before Dawn?.

?White Palms? is also currently in competition in the ?East of the West? category of the 41st Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic. ?Before Dawn? is now the recipient of 27 foreign awards since its premiere in Cannes.

Some 200 films from 40 countries were shown at the 14th ART FILM ? International Film Festival. In addition to the two prize-winning films, Hungarian filmmaker György Pálos?s ?Sztornó? and peer Csaba Bollók's ?Miraq? were also shown. Additionally, a classic Hungarian film was on the festival?s programme: Zoltán Fábri?s ?Professor Hannibal? (1956) was shown as part of the ?50 Years Ago? screenings.
