Hungarian Flautist Wins Queen's Commendation

Zsuzsa Vámosi-Nagy

Vámosi-Nagy started studying the flute seriously at Budapest's György Solti Music School under the tutelage of Zoltán Barnabás in 1994. She was accepted at the Bartók Conservatory in 1996, where she studied under Zoltán Gyöngyössy. Between 2001 and 2006 Vámosi-Nagy was a student of Lóránt Kovács at the Liszt Academy. She took postgraduate studies under William Bennett at the Royal Academy of Music in London in 2006-2008. She graduated from the academy in June with honours and, in addition to the "Queen's Commendation for Excellence", she won the "Irene Burcher Prize" and the "Ashover Festival Award".

 
 
Vámosi-Nagy has participated in master courses with Jaime Martin, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Aurele Nicolet, Michel Debost, Peter Lloyd, András Adorján, Marianne Henkel and Jiri Valek.
 
Vámosi-Nagy is a member of the Budapest Baroque Ensemble and she is the first chair flautist with the Ventoscala Symphony Orchestra. Her performances in Hungary and abroad have won her much acclaim.
