Hungarian, Foreign Musicians to Perform at Kodály Festival

English

 Ádám Banda

The festival, organised by the Kodály Music Teaching Institute of the Liszt Academy, will take place at the same time as the 25th International Kodály Seminar, where musicians, music teachers and guest speakers will come from around the world.

The three-week festival will open with a concert by Ádám Banda, among the best of the youngest generation of Hungarian violinists. Banda will play with the Kecskemét Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Roni Porat.

The Liszt Chamber Orchestra will play on July 27, and opera fans can hear an aria evening with the Hungarian Bernadett Wiedemann and the German Johannes von Duisburg on the 29th. The Kossuth Prize-winning pianist Gergely Bogányi will play on the 31st.

Other performers include the Trio Lignum and the A:N:S Chorus, who will sing rarely heard Renaissance works. The Music Academy Alma Mater Chorus and the Kecskemét Dance ensemble will also perform.

The Kodály Seminar has been organised every summer since 1970. A concert series was introduced as part of the seminar in 1978, and the series was transformed into a festival in 1986.
