"I really enjoyed myself at the competition, and, most importantly, I gave a good performance. I could not have played better," said the 21-year-old András Pálfi.

Pálfi was one of six semi-finalists eliminated from a total of twelve guitarists in the contest.

"I really think that the winners were people who deserved to be winners. The point is that I was in the position to meet really good guitarists," said Pálfi, who studies IT at the Budapest Engineering University.

Pálfi made it to the semi-finals with more than 5,300 online votes.

The winner of the Guitar Idol 2009 contest was Jack Thammarat from Thailand.
