Hungarian Photographer Shows Images of LA

English

Marosi said the show?s title, L.A. Analogue, refers to his approach to photography, which involves exploring how things work under the surface.

Marosi?s interest in photography developed while performing at Studio K and the Új Színház theatres. When he left for London in 2007, he started taking photographs with a borrowed camera. Later, while spending eight months in Los Angeles to study acting and screenplay writing, he took many photographs on the streets and on local beaches. He returned to Hungary in 2009, but then moved to Paris where he got a job at an American company shooting portraits for a living.
He said he currently splits his time between Budapest and Paris and is now working on a translation of Lee Strasberg?s book Method on a commission from the Hungarian Book Foundation.

Strasberg?s acting studios in New York and Hollywood were frequented by such stars as Elia Kazan, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and Al Pacino. Marosi also studied in an institute in Los Angeles that was established by Strasberg.

The show of Marosi?s work will be opened by the actor Győző Szabó, a former colleague at Új Színház. Music will be provided by the band Kesh and DJ Vittorio Waxman.

The exhibition runs until August 15
