Hungarian Pianists Win Prizes At Smetana Piano Competition

The competition was held in Plzen, the Czech Republic, between 5 and 12 March.

In the sixteen-and-under category, Hungary's Renáta Krisztina Konyicska shared a first place with Serbia's Sara Vujadinovic. The silver medal was shared by Jan Simandlnak (Czech Republic) and Kristina Sepasjukova (Ukraine), and the bronze went to Bára Handzuiskova (Czech Republic).

In the adult category, Hungary's Mariann Marczi was awarded a special honour for her interpretation of Bartók's Three Burlesques. Also in this category, Jana Tumová (Czech Republic) finished in first place, and Ukraine's Olena Ivanenko finished third. No second prize was awarded in the category
