The troupe they will perform Gulliver in Lilliput in Romania and John the Valiant at the Children?s World Theatre Festival in Tojama, Japan.
The set for the John the Valiant performance is already on its way to Japan, said Jászai and Ucsimura Prize-winning director István Pinczés. Some modifications were made to the story to better suit the local audiences, he added.
Pinczés said the troupe would bring a Hungarian folk tale, a dance-movement theatre performance and a show of Japanese bunraku puppet theatre to the stage in the autumn.
The first premiere of the season will be a co-production with the Cimborák Puppet Theatre of Sfantu Gheorghe, based on a collection of tales by Elek Benedek. This will be followed in October by the premiere of József Jámbor?s play The Three Deviants, a story about overcoming laziness that won a prize at the György Schwajda drama competition in Kaposvár this year.
A performance called Snowfall, based on Christmas carols and games from around the world, including Japan, France, Britain, South Africa, Russia and Finland, will be shown at the end of November.
The troupe will start 2013 with a performance entitled Csipike the Giant Dwarf and will follow up with a dance-movement theatre piece called Peti in the Gallery. The season will end with a play by Japanese director Koizumi Hirosi based on the folk tale Sleepy Head.
The theatre will host crafts workshops for children with special needs as well as playhouses for the youngest children.
The theatre will also welcome adults to readings of work by local authors organised together with the Hevesi Sándor Theatre.
