Hungarian Researcher in Hawaii Presented State Award

Csiszár was presented the award in recognition of her achievements in the medical sciences as well as her work fostering ties between universities.
 
Csiszár, who holds dual citizenship, graduated summa cum laude with a degree in molecular biology from the József Attila University of Sciences in 1981. She got her Ph.D. from the Szeged Medical University in 1983.
 
Csiszár did post-doctoral work at the Pasteur Institute in Paris in 1985-86 and at the Max-Planck Institute in Munich in 1987-88.
 
She has worked in the United States since 1989 and started research at the University of Hawaii in 1996.
 
Hawaiian governor Neil Abercrobmie was a guest of honour at the ceremony and presented Csziszár with a Commendaiton from the State of Hawaii for her noteworthy contributions to both the research and education communities locally and abroad.
 
Csiszár said she was honoured to follow in the footsteps of György Békessy, a Hungarian who was also a member of the University of Hawaii faculty and who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology in 1961.
