Enikő Magyar

Magyar, a postgraduate student at the Royal Academy of Music in London, said she was especially proud of her achievement as the contest's jury places a greater emphasis on musicianship than at other competitions. Magyar added that she was also happy to heighten the profile of her instrument, which receives far less attention than it deserves.

Magyar competed against 24 other students nominated by the directors of eight music academies around the UK.

The top prize when to the flautist Fiona Paterson.
