Tóth was the only actor from Central and Eastern Europe in the programme, which is being held for the twelfth time, said Hungarian Film Union managing director Éva Vezér. The other participants were from Ireland, the UK, Spain, France, Italy and Denmark.

The ten young rising stars were presented at a press conference in the morning on Monday, and a film clip from each was shown. Festival director Dieter Kosslick presented the programme's participants with a prize from the Babelsberg Film Studio at a ceremony.

Tóth, who is best known for her work in Kornél Mundruczó's films, said she believed her invitation was the result not only of the film Delta, but also of her earlier films, including Johanna and Pleasant Days.

"Berlinale is a good place to appear not only to promote a film but also to promote yourself, to introduce yourself," Tóth said.

On Tuesday, she was already back in Budapest for a theatre performance. Her upcoming film plans included roles in a Canadian short and a Dutch feature film.
