The season will offer 11 premieres to lovers of music including Haydn's Orfeo ed Euridice (L'anima del filosofo), to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the composer's death, as well as Beethoven's Fidelio and Handel's Xerxes. There will be 295 performances in all.
The neo-renaissance Opera House, a landmark building on Budapest's prestigious Andrassy Boulevard, was designed by Miklos Ybl and built between 1875 and 1884.
