English

The Hungarian troupe is one of the main guests at the festival, which is organised by the Romanian Theatre Association, the Ministry of Culture and the Bucharest Mayor?s Office. This year?s festival takes place on November 4?15.

The production of ?Ivanov?, directed by Tamás Ascher, has been performed twice, and after Thursday?s sold-out performance the audience rose to their feet for an ovation.

In addition to the most important Romanian troupes, the festival has invited Irish, Russian, Macedonian, Czech and Hungarian productions. Beside the Katona József Theatre, the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj Napoca and the Tamási Áron Theatre of Sfantu Gheorghe, both from parts of Romania where many ethnic Hungarians live, are performing. The Hungarian Theatre of Cluj Napoca is putting on a production of András Visky?s ?Students? and the Tamási Áron Theatre is performing Samuel Beckett?s ?Waiting for Godot?.
