(MTI) - Meszaros, who made her first film in 1968, received the award in recognition of her career and achievements in international cinema at America's oldest film festival, which concludes on October 21, the union said.
Meszaros's title "Last Report on Anna" was shown in the festival's competition category. It is dedicated to one-time Hungarian social-democratic politician Anna Kethly (1889-1976).
Meszaros had already won two awards in Chicago: the main prize for her film "Adoption" in 1975 and the Bronze Hugo for "Diary for My Children" in 1984.
