Krasznahorkai said he was excited about the journey to Israel, where he will travel for the first time. He aims to arrive before the festival to visit some of the Biblical sites.
Krasznahorkai said his invitation to the festival may have been the result, in part, of the publication of his novel War and War in Israel, translated into Hebrew by the poet and linguist Rami Szaari.
He said it would be a great honour to speak at the same event as Israeli President Shimon Peres.
Other writers at the festival include the Dutch author Arnon Grunberg, who presented Tirza at the Budapest International Book Festival recently, his compatriot Herman Koch and the Algerian writer Boualem Sansal, the winner of the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade.
Krasznahorkai will participate at a talk with the Israel Prize-winner Hanoch Bartov on Wednesday.
