The Hungarian authors Krisztina Tóth and László Krasznahorkai are among the authors in the contest vying for the title. Tóth is represented by her novel Bar Code and Krasznahorkai by his book The Last Wolf.
Zoya Chalova, director of the Mayakovsky Public Library, which is organising the contest for the third year, said the project aimed to raise interest in reading as well as the treasures of world literature. She added that foreign diplomatic circles had offered a great deal of support.
Citizens of Saint Petersburg can learn more about Tóth and Krasznahorkai as well as other Hungarian authors at the Hungarian Book Salon in April.
