The blog aims to introduce more Hungarians to the Avignon Theatre Festival as well as foster links between theatre professionals in both countries.
"With the help of art students, teachers, directors, filmmakers and blog writers we would like to broadcast this renowned French event live from Avignon, creating a link between French and Hungarian representatives of theatre and cultural life, as well as the participating youth and professionals," said András Ecserdi-Derdák, director of the Hungarian Institute in Paris, who initiated the programme.
The blog will be published between July 11 and 18. It can be read at theatre portal www.szinhaz.hu and at the website of daily Népszabadság www.nol.hu.
The Avignon Theatre Festival was launched with three performances by the renowned French actor and director Jean Vilar in the Palais des Papes in 1947. The festival has since been extended to three weeks and many new venues have been added.
Visitors to the theatre festival can hear Hungarian jazz in nearby Junas, where Mihály Dresch, Gábor Gadó and Mihály Borbély will perform at the Jazz a Junas festival, with the cooperation of the Hungarian Institute in Paris.
