Four thousand Hungarians have served in the legion since it was formed 173 years ago.
Legions of honour, uniforms, flags, personal items and photos are on display at over the next month in Budapest's Museum of Military History, said Ferenc Jozsef Hollo, the museum's director. One photo from 1943 shows the legion's only woman.
