Stamitz grew up in the Mannheim court among some of the best horn players at the time -- his music stands somewhere between Bach's mature Baroque and Vienna Classicism, Rozmán said. The pieces were written around the time the clarinet took its contemporary form, a period when some of the instruments most talented players appeared, he added.
The recording is a further curiosity as Rozmán is best known for his performances of contemporary music. The winner of several Artisjus prizes and a Liszt prize, as well as the recipient of an Annie Fischer scholarship, Rozmán has been active with the New Hungarian Music Forum (UMZE) and the Forrás Chamber Music Workshop. He is a member of Trio Lignum.
