Hungary acquires Robert Capa photo collection

The boxes containing the images of Capa - renowned mainly for his war photography - were opened at a celebration in Budapest on Tuesday. The event was attended by Education and Culture Minister Istvan Hiller, whose ministry had provided a grant of 300 million forints (EUR 976,000) to make the purchase.

The collection will first be presented to the public between March 5 and 15 at a preliminary exhibition at the National Museum.
 
The pictures will then be displayed at the Ludwig Museum of contemporary art between July 2 and October 16.
