Hungary will be presented at events at 14 venues throughout the state, including Dusseldorf, Dortmund, Essen, Wuppertal, Bielefeld, Munster and Bonn.
Some 100 Hungarian artists will travel to Germany for the festival and nearly 200 events will feature contemporary Hungarian music, literature, fine art and theatre.

Sources close to the organisers of the festival told the Hungarian News Agency (MTI) that Hungary was picked as the guest of honour because the Hungarian city of Pécs is a European Capital of Culture this year, together with the German city of Essen and Istanbul.
Several Hungarian writers, including György Konrád, Péter Nádas and György Dalos, will appear at festival events.
