The agreement, first signed in 1976, has been extended every 3-4 years. Its extension was signed by National Resources Minister Miklós Réthelyi and Mongolian Ambassador to Hungary Omboosuren Erdenechimeg, the Office of the State Secretary for Culture said.
Under the extended agreement, Hungary will award scholarships to five Mongolian students and provide stipends for two of them. Scholarship winners who show outstanding achievement will be offered a place in a Ph.D. programme.
Before starting their studies in Hungary, the foreign students will spend a year at the Balassi Institute to learn Hungarian and make other preparations.
Eight Hungarian students will get a chance to study in Mongolia for periods between three and six months under the agreement.
The cooperation agreement also fosters links between cultural institutions and promotes the exchange of artists, translators, exhibitions and experience on preserving cultural heritage.
