Hungary Replaces Eurovision Contestant

English

The new contestant Kátya Tompos

Márk Zentai, a.k.a. Mark, was picked as Hungary's  contestant for the contest for his performance of Vigyen el a szél (If You Wanna Party), by the Swede Figge Boström, well known for his collaboration with international acts such as Westlife, Ace of Base and Alcazar. It was not discovered until later that the song had already been performed live before on Sweden's Big Brother show in 2006, excluding it from the Eurovision contest.

Zentai had shown great promise: jury member Andrea Szulák said the song was "extraordinarily dynamic and youthful, and the past achievements of the performer, despite his young age, guarantee that he will perform successfully on an international stage."
After Zentai withdrew as Hungary's contestant, the jury chose Kátya Tompos to replace him. Tompos will sing Magányos csónak (Lonely Boat), composed by Gábor Duba and with lyrics written by Géza Pálvölgyi. The song was featured in the Hungarian film  Some Kind of America 2, which won the best popular film award at the 40th Hungarian Film Week this year.
